Our Hospital

Sabino Veterinary Care has been under the direction of Dr. Jim Stofft and Dr. Susan Birrell Stofft since 2011. We moved to our current location in the Catalina Foothills in December of 2015 after finishing construction on a brand new hospital. Our new facility is designed to have a home-like atmosphere and remove the clinical feeling common to other veterinary offices.

We aim to create a stress-free experience for both owner and pet, which is why our waiting room has comfortable couch seating and plenty of large windows looking out to the beautiful Ventana Canyon, Sabino Canyon, and Bear Canyon. While keeping your comfort in mind, we have also equipped our clinic with state-of-the-art medical technology to ensure your pet receives the best up-to-date care possible.

Our goal is to consistently provide outstanding communication and patient care. We offer longer appointments than most other veterinary practices in order to give you all of the information you need to make the best decisions about your pet’s health. We also keep in touch by phone and email to answer your questions and make sure your pet continues to thrive.

Dr. Jim Stofft and Dr. Susan Birrell Stofft worked in Tucson, AZ for 15 years before purchasing Sabino Veterinary Care. They both hold degrees in veterinary medicine from Colorado State University.

Sabino Veterinary Care serves a wide area in and around Tucson, AZ, including the Catalina Foothills and Tanque Verde area. We welcome new patients from all over, and have clients as far as Vail, and Oro Valley who trust us with the care of their animal family members.

Our core values include

  • Communication – We want you to be part of the conversation! You know your pet best, which puts you at the forefront of their health. By working together and communicating clearly, we can give your pet the best chance to thrive.
  • Education – To help you make the best decisions about your pet’s health, we want to help you learn more about nutrition, preventative care, and how our treatments work to heal your pet. The more you know, the more you can help your pet stay healthy.
  • Quality Care – Your pet deserves the best when it comes to veterinary care. We are committed to staying on top of the latest research in veterinary medicine so that we can provide your pet with the highest quality care possible.

AAHA Accredited

Our hospital is accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA).

AAHA is the only organization that accredits veterinary practices in the United States and Canada. Practices that choose to pursue accreditation are evaluated on stringent quality standards that encompass all aspects of veterinary medicine—from pain management and patient care to team training and medical recordkeeping—and are continuously updated to keep accredited practice teams at the forefront of the profession.

Today, only 12%–15% of veterinary practices in the US and Canada hold the “AAHA-accredited” designation.
