Doctor of Veterinary Medicine
Jim is a native of Tucson and went to the University of Arizona before attending Colorado State University School of Veterinary Medicine. His interest in veterinary medicine started around 16 while visiting his newly adopted puppy Samantha who was being quarantined at Valley Animal Hospital after she bit his ear while they were rough housing. Feeling guilty and responsible for this situation, he checked in every day of the 10 day sentence. Getting to watch Veterinarians and Technicians hard at work caring for pets, and listening to his Mom wishing that her own doctor was as caring and attentive as her dog’s Veterinarian was a strong influence.
After graduating in 1996, Dr. Stofft completed a one year internship in small animal medicine and surgery at a private specialty/referral center. He has spent his entire career in Tucson, working in emergency medicine, as well as general practice. Dr. Stofft was the consulting veterinarian for the Reid Park Zoo for many years and enjoys working with a variety of exotic species, in addition to dogs and cats.
The opportunity to work with his wife Susan arose in 2009 and in 2011 they purchased Sabino Veterinary Care. They have two daughters, Anna, and Erin, and enjoy supporting their activities with the Rincon – University High School Marching Band. The Stoffts enjoy hiking, camping, and other outdoor sports. They share their home with two cats, two dogs, and a large, gregarious tortoise named Larry-Todd. As a die-hard U of A Wildcat supporter, Dr. Jim awaits our first Rose Bowl or a fifth Final Four and wouldn’t complain if he needs to edit this sentence of his bio next year.
