Starting a Blog

Well, as my sister Lori has said once or a thousand times, “you NEED to start a blog”. As small animal vets, Susan and I have wanted to try our hand at writing about subjects that interest us and hopefully pet owners, and random strangers as well. We hope to update this regularly and we would love to get feedback from anyone with questions or topics they would like to see talked about.

As an introduction, Jim and Susan Stofft met while in Vet School at Colorado State University. They both went on to small animal medical/surgical internships (Jim at Southern Arizona Veterinary Specialty Center, and Susan at Texas A&M). Jim convinced Susan to move from Colorado to his hometown -Tucson, Arizona, and they have worked separately at a couple different vet clinics, before finding themselves working together at Adobe Vet Center, on east Tanque Verde Road.

Jim has an interest in general, and emergency small animal and exotic animal practice. He enjoys soft tissue surgery, and internal medicine. He was fortunate to be the consulting veterinarian for the Reid Park Zoo for 10 years after assisting his mentor Dr Tom Miller, who had been the zoo’s veterinarian since its inception. Susan Stofft is also a primary small animal practitioner, who has a special interest in ophthalmology, soft tissue surgery as well as ultrasound. Susan has enjoyed the challenges of organizing the creation of a new small animal veterinary clinic and the diverse responsibilities of practice management.

Jim and Susan take every opportunity to enjoy hiking with their human family – Anna 10 and Erin 8, or relaxing at home with their animal family – Australian Shepherds Emma and Bodhi, rambunctious adolescent cat Ernie, and friendly, voracious sulcata tortoise, Larry -Todd.
